Accompanied by his wife, Madam Dera Obika, the envoy made the call at the headquarters of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star in Calabar when he led 20-man steel orchestra from his country to play for the spiritual leader of the organsiation, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, whom he said was leading a unique spiritual consciousness and emphasizing on Black supremacy.
He explained that his country was initiating the course of spiritual and cultural blend with many black African countries especially with African organizations with strong philosophy and culture such that are capable of reuniting the entire black people wherever they may be.
He said "it is for this reason that I have again come to visit this spiritual organization, having done so last August, to reciprocate their generosity to my country and to consolidate on the bilateral relationship we both have which hopefully will engender greater consciousness between our peoples, especially in the areas of music and spiritual development.
"I know it was destined for this initiative to come about. Black music played from steel drums was banned 75 years ago in our country by the White colonialists. But early 1990s the ban was lifted, and we saw the need to bring back the very African music our forebears played to Africa as a way of re-popularising it and cementing the spirit of freedom and unity amongst Africans and those in Diaspora."
Responding, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu who said he was grateful for the kind visit, said the bilateral relationship will bring about greater benefits to Nigeria, other African countries and Trinidad & Tobago.
